| Case: | Very good case that has previously been polished with a few dings and scratches throughout. Comes with an excellent long 5 bezel insert that has faded to a light gray and has scratches and visible wear. The pip at 12 on the bezel is a later replacement. Case back is stamped: 5513 IV.67. Serial and reference numbers are crisp and well defined. Acrylic crystal has some surface wear consistent with age. This watch has retained its original non-triplock crown (no three dots) and it shows some wear with indentations. |

This Rolex watch is in vintage condition with visible wear throughout as seen in pictures. The case has been polished and has some scratches. The "long five" bezel has aged and shows some fading and wear. The dial has developed some patina and has remained pretty clean over the years. The hands have developed patina and have aged darker than the lume on the dial. The bracelet is a later solid link replacement.

Rolex introduced ref. 5513 around 1962 and it was in production until 1989. It was one of the longest continually produced references from the brand. Rolex initially used glossy dials in this model and swapped to matte around 1966, like this example. When Rolex went to the matte dial they also put the depth rating as "200m = 660ft" and these are known as "meters first" in the collecting community. Eventually Rolex would swap the depth rating to feet first around the early 1970s and have continued this trend to the modern offerings. One theory on this change is that Rolex wanted to boost sales in the United States, but to our knowledge Rolex has not made any definitive statements on this shift.
The example we are offering is in overall nice, honest condition and has aged nicely over the years. The "long five" bezel has faded nicely and gives the watch a great vintage look.
